Danny Trejo (; Spanish: [ˈtɾexo]; born May 16, 1944) is an American actor. Trejo's film career began in 1985 with Runaway Train. He went on to star in a multitude of other movies, including Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Con Air (1997), Reindeer Games (2000), and Grindhouse (2007). With frequent collaborator and second cousin Robert Rodriguez, he portrayed the character Machete, which was originally developed for the Spy Kids series and later expanded into its own franchise.
