Synopsis

A Christmas to Remember

New York based Jennifer Wade, a domestic goddess (domestic skills which she learned from her now deceased mother) who hosts a lifestyle show called Home Style, has just taped her Christmas special. Perfection for the special belies the fact that she doesn't really do Christmas personally anymore, not having the time, the energy, or the wherewithal, especially as she doesn't have anyone special, like her mother, do to it with, with her sportscaster boyfriend Brad being more a boyfriend in name than in true emotion, at least on her side. Jennifer reluctantly accepts her best friend and the show's producer Paula's offer to spend a relaxing Christmas at her chalet near Aspen, Brad who decides not to go with her, he preferring to do the New York thing instead.

En route in a snow storm near the town of North Creek, Colorado, Jennifer skids off the road, she emerging from the car wreck with a head laceration, mild concussion and amnesia, including not knowing who she is, with only the clothes on her back and no identification, and no memory of the car crash. She is rescued by the town's vet, Dr. John Blake, who finds her wandering alone on the isolated stretch of highway. Being a widower now for three years, he is a single father to his three adolescent children, Jamie, Kyle and Daisy Blake. He has only just started dating again, pressure such as that placed on him by his long time acquaintance Brooke Hanson, who has always seen them as the perfect match, not what he wants in dating. The Blakes have not indulged in Christmas since John's wife/the kids' mother Julie died. John ends up taking Jennifer home to look after her, he not knowing who she is. As news spreads throughout town, no one can identify her or claims her. With nowhere to go, "Maggie", as the Blakes have renamed her, ends up spending the next few days with them, she only remembering her domestic skills which she uses to bring the joy of Christmas back into their house, that joy which Jennifer has long missed about her chic New York life. In the process, John/the kids and Maggie start to fall for each other. The question then becomes if there is a future for them, especially after Maggie regains her memory of being urbanite and career-oriented Jennifer Wade.

Furthermore, the use of generic holiday tunes in the soundtrack felt cliché and predictable, detracting from the originality of the story. The music did not succeed in creating a unique and immersive atmosphere, instead resorting to tired tropes that failed to engage me as a viewer.
