Synopsis

A Hologram for the King is a novel by Dave Eggers that follows the story of Alan Clay, a struggling American businessman who travels to Saudi Arabia in hopes of securing a lucrative deal to sell a holographic teleconferencing system to the King. As Alan navigates the unfamiliar culture and bureaucracy of Saudi Arabia, he grapples with his own personal and professional failures. Along the way, he forms unexpected connections with his Saudi colleagues and confronts his own sense of identity and purpose.
