Synopsis

Love with her well-to-do fiance Jens' (Mike Doyle) half-brother Erik (Rob Estes) jeopardizes a Mormon girl's (Jennie Garth) comfortable future in 1920s Utah.

Erik Eriksen returns to the small Mormon community where he was raised and where he has always been treated as disbeliever. It is one of the communities where LDS had grown and where it was regarded with some suspicion, because of differing social rules.

Erik always felt like a pariah, even in his own family. His mother, Ida, became the second wife of the head of the community without his having separated from his first wife, Christine. But when the law changed and prohibited polygamy, Erik got the impression that his father relegated them to the position of the poor relation.

Now that their husband is dead, Christine Eriksen respects Ida as the second wife of her late husband, but frequent conflicts continue as Erik is in opposition to his older half-brothers.

Erik offers to give piano lessons to the fiance of Jens, the sweet and innocent Chel, who has a real passion for music. A strong sentiment grows between the two and Erik suggests that the girl to go away with him. She initially resists, but then succumbs to her desires.

An accident in which a young Indian woman dies is taken by Chel as a warning for her sin and she returns to Jens. During a battura hunting, the boy is killed by Erik who does not know what his subconscious may have been responsible for the fatal accident. The death effects Chel and Erik, preventing the two from living together...
