Synopsis

Adopted tells the story of Africa, a continent that has been plagued by despair for hundreds of years. Famine, civil wars, and rampant disease have left the continent without hope, relying on the efforts of Western do-gooders.

These do-gooders initially arrived with food, bibles, and the magic of penicillin. More recently, they have hosted rock concerts and sent plane loads of grain to help Africa. However, in the last decade of the 20th century, a new trend emerged - celebrity adoptions.

First, there was Angelina Jolie, then Madonna, and now...Pauly Shore! The film satirizes the international interest in celebrity adoptions and the debate that surrounds these transactions on both sides of the Atlantic.

Adopted is sometimes politically incorrect and never afraid to tread on manicured toes. It uses comedy to shed light on the complexities and controversies surrounding celebrity adoptions in Africa.

User reviews

Nancy Mitchell
6/10

I found the use of African drum beats and chants in the soundtrack to be particularly powerful, evoking a sense of cultural richness and history that is often overlooked in mainstream media representations of the continent.

Paul Gonzalez
5/10

The incorporation of Western pop and rock elements in certain tracks added a unique twist to the soundtrack, reflecting the clash of cultures and influences portrayed in the film.

Donna Perez
6/10

While some may find the soundtrack's fusion of different music styles to be a bit jarring at times, I believe it effectively mirrors the cultural clashes and misunderstandings depicted in the movie.

Michael Perez
4/10

The soundtrack of Adopted fails to capture the emotional depth and seriousness of the issues portrayed in the film. The music feels generic and uninspired, lacking the gravitas needed to enhance the storytelling.

John Parker
5/10

The soundtrack of Adopted perfectly captures the essence of Africa's struggles and complexities through a blend of traditional African rhythms and modern Western influences.

Patricia Hernandez
1/10

The choice of upbeat and whimsical tunes in some scenes clashes with the somber and thought-provoking themes of famine, civil wars, and disease in Africa. This inconsistency in tone detracts from the overall viewing experience and undermines the impact of the narrative.

Anthony Williams
5/10

Overall, the soundtrack of Adopted succeeds in enhancing the film's narrative by providing a diverse range of musical textures that underscore the emotional depth of the story.
