Alps is a film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos that tells the story of a group of people who offer a unique service: they stand in for deceased loved ones to help their clients cope with grief. The group calls themselves the Alps and they strictly follow a set of rules in their interactions with clients.
Things take a dark turn when one of the members of the Alps, a nurse named Monte Rosa, starts breaking the rules and forming personal connections with the clients. This leads to a series of events that challenge the group's dynamics and raise questions about identity, grief, and the nature of human relationships.
The film explores themes of loss, loneliness, and the lengths people will go to in order to feel connected to others. It is a thought-provoking and unsettling look at the ways in which we deal with death and the complexities of human emotion.
