Synopsis

And You Thought There Is Never a Girl Online? is a Japanese light novel series written by Shibai Kineko and illustrated by Hisasi. The story follows Hideki Nishimura, a high school student who is obsessed with online games and decides to propose to his in-game wife, Ako Tamaki. However, he soon discovers that Ako is actually a man in real life and is devastated by the revelation.

Feeling betrayed and heartbroken, Hideki decides to quit the game and focus on his real life. However, he is surprised when he meets a group of girls who are also his classmates and are all avid gamers. Together, they form a new gaming club and embark on adventures both in the virtual world and in real life.

As Hideki learns to navigate his relationships with his new friends and deal with his feelings for Ako, he also discovers the importance of friendship and the value of being true to oneself. The series explores themes of identity, acceptance, and the power of friendship in overcoming challenges.
