Synopsis

Antwone Fisher is a 2002 American biographical drama film directed by Denzel Washington. The film is based on the true story of Antwone Fisher, a young man who was abandoned as a child and grew up in foster care.

Antwone Fisher, played by Derek Luke, is a troubled young sailor in the US Navy who is sent to a psychiatrist, Dr. Jerome Davenport, played by Denzel Washington, after getting into fights with his fellow sailors.

Through therapy sessions with Dr. Davenport, Antwone confronts his painful past and comes to terms with his anger and resentment towards his biological family. He also begins a romantic relationship with a fellow sailor, Cheryl, played by Joy Bryant.

As Antwone delves deeper into his past, he discovers the truth about his family and confronts the people who hurt him in his childhood.

The film explores themes of forgiveness, healing, and the power of therapy in overcoming trauma. Antwone Fisher is a powerful and moving story of resilience and redemption.
