Synopsis

Before We Die (Innan vi dör) is an emotive and unpredictable story of family ties, dangerous loves and a brutal underworld power struggle. Hanna Svensson is a police officer with high morals and firm principles, but she is no longer the star of Stockholm's Organised Crime Unit. She has no family to speak of and sacrificed her own son, Christian, for the sake of her career.

Christian has just served a two-year sentence for drug dealing, and is no longer in contact with Hanna since it was she who had him arrested. He has now settled down as a dishwasher in a restaurant where the head of the Mimica family, Davor, has taken him under his wing.

Meanwhile, when Hannah's lover and colleague Sven disappears, it turns out that he has been running an undercover investigation into criminal biker gangs. But only Hanna knows that Sven has been working undercover, so she takes over SMS contact with his mole. Hanna doesn't know their identity, just the code name 'Inez'.

Hanna soon realises the extent of the investigation: a brutal and diabolical underworld takeover is happening, and Inez is her only hope of preventing it. But the price is higher than Hanna realises. She is forced to fight for her son's life in ways that she never imagined, and must break a family to save her own.
