Synopsis

Bird Box is a post-apocalyptic thriller novel by Josh Malerman. The story follows Malorie, a young mother who must navigate a world where mysterious creatures have caused mass suicides. These creatures cannot be looked at directly, as anyone who sees them is driven to deadly violence.

Malorie and her two young children must travel blindfolded to safety, relying only on their other senses to survive. The novel alternates between the present day journey and flashbacks to the early days of the apocalypse, when Malorie first learns of the creatures and struggles to protect herself and her children.

Bird Box explores themes of fear, survival, and the lengths a mother will go to protect her children. The novel has been praised for its tense atmosphere and unique premise, and was adapted into a popular Netflix film starring Sandra Bullock.
