Blackrock

Synopsis

Blackrock is a story set in New South Wales, where Jared enjoys surfing with his friends and experiences his first romance. One night, he hosts a beach party for his older friend, Ricko, and witnesses a horrifying event: four of his friends gang-rape a 15-year-old girl. Jared is paralyzed by fear and does nothing to stop the assault. The next day, the girl is found murdered.

At school, the reaction to the tragedy is divided: the girls are outraged at the perpetrators, while the boys mock the dead girl's character. The parents of the students also have their own reactions to the incident. Jared is consumed by guilt and anger for not intervening to help the girl.

As Jared struggles with his emotions, his mother tries to discuss her upcoming cancer surgery with him, the police question him about what he witnessed, and Ricko asks for an alibi. Jared feels overwhelmed by the pressure and begins to crack under the weight of his secrets.
