Synopsis
When a shy girl, secretly in love with her rocker-grrl roommate, meets a lopsided heiress on the run, anything could (and does) happen in BRUSHFIRES, the latest production from Chicago-based film group Split Pillow. As the three women negotiate the dangerous relationships between them, the seven directors weave a sensual suspense story. Drawing inspiration from Jessica Wilbur's poem and surreal parlor game The Exquisite Corpse, each director selected a word or phrase to base their segment on, and all seven chapters of the film bear their individual marks. This impressive cinematic experiment emerges as a sensitive story about young desire, loss and the confusion of love.
