In bleak 1828 Edinburgh, Scotland, the infamous duo of hapless ne'er-do-wells William Burke (Simon Pegg) and William Hare (Andy Serkis) realize that the relentless competition between Dr. Robert Knox (Tom Wilkinson) and Dr. Alexander Monro (Tim Curry) could work to their advantage. With a grave shortage of fresh cadavers for the professors' medical purposes, Burke and Hare decide to embrace a proactive approach and embark on a lucrative killing spree, unaware that the aspiring impresario and Burke's new love interest Ginny Hawkins (Isla Fisher) and the city's underworld have set their sights on having their share of the profit. Will the partners-in-crime get away with murder so easily?
