Synopsis

Playground is a sensitive investigation into the sexual exploitation of children, a problem that is often associated with back-alley brothels in developing countries. However, filmmaker Libby Spears reveals that American capital plays a significant role in fueling the commercial child sex industry.

Spears delves into the domestic roots of this epidemic, exploring how children are educated about sex and the challenges of raising awareness about a crime that is difficult to expose. The film follows the mystery of Michelle, an American girl who disappeared into the world of childhood sexual exploitation and has yet to be found.

Executive produced by George Clooney, Grant Heslov, and Steven Soderbergh, Playground sheds light on a sinister industry that is often overlooked. With poignant animation by Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, Spears presents a comprehensive revelation of this unknown epidemic, making it essential viewing for parents and engaged citizens.
