Synopsis

C.H.U.D. is a 1984 horror film directed by Douglas Cheek. The story follows a group of people in New York City who discover that the city's homeless population is being turned into Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers (C.H.U.D.) due to exposure to toxic waste.

The film stars John Heard as a photographer, Daniel Stern as a soup kitchen operator, and Christopher Curry as a police officer. As they investigate the disappearances of homeless people, they uncover a government cover-up and must fight to survive against the mutated creatures.

C.H.U.D. received mixed reviews upon its release but has since gained a cult following for its campy charm and practical effects. It has been praised for its social commentary on homelessness and environmental pollution.
