This documentary about the culture of intense cinephilia in New York City reveals the passionate world of five obsessed moviegoers. The filmmakers expose this deliciously deranged cult by capturing the daily lives of its members. Interviews in theaters, on the street, and in the subjects' homes tell the story of each individual. Many are unable to hold a job or choose not to. All of them have downgraded the importance of the real world, giving all their attention to the fantasy world of movies. These human movie encyclopedias watch two to five movies a day and 600 to 2,000 movies a year. Many do not have a physical sex life, but instead live in a world of romance with stars like James Dean or Audrey Hepburn. At Cinemania, Hollywood's biggest fans will suit up with the real stars. This is the story of their lives, their memories, their inflexible habits, and the movies they love.
