Synopsis

Spouses Irina and Leonid save a little girl who had a narrow escape from a car accident in the mountains. The couple has no children, and thinking the baby's family died, they decide to adopt her and name Nina. As years go by Nina becomes a real beauty. After the tragic death of Leonid, a former climber, Irina devotes herself entirely to her daughter. The only upsetting thing is that the girl is captivated by the romance of the mountains and dreams of following in the footsteps of Leonid - becoming a rock climber - Meanwhile, in faraway Ossetia, the old monk before his death finds Nina's brother Mikhail and confesses that when he was a doctor he gave the surviving girl to strangers to be taken proper care .
