Synopsis

Court is a 2014 Indian courtroom drama film written and directed by Chaitanya Tamhane in his directorial debut. The film examines the Indian legal system through the trial of an aging folk singer at a lower court in Mumbai.

The film was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards. It won the Best Film award in the Horizons category and the Luigi De Laurentiis award for Tamhane at the 71st Venice International Film Festival.
