Synopsis

Cradle Will Rock is a 1999 American historical drama film written, produced, and directed by Tim Robbins. The film tells the story of the controversial Federal Theatre Project, a New Deal program that employed artists during the Great Depression.

The film follows a group of actors, musicians, and artists as they struggle to put on a politically charged play called "The Cradle Will Rock." The play, written by Marc Blitzstein, is a scathing critique of capitalism and corruption in America.

As the production faces censorship and financial difficulties, the artists must decide whether to compromise their principles or risk losing everything. The film explores themes of art, politics, and freedom of expression.

Cradle Will Rock features an ensemble cast including Hank Azaria, Rubén Blades, Joan Cusack, John Cusack, Bill Murray, Vanessa Redgrave, and Susan Sarandon. The film received mixed reviews from critics but was praised for its performances and historical accuracy.
