Synopsis

Crashing is a British comedy-drama television series created by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The show follows the lives of six twenty-something adults living together as property guardians in a disused hospital, where they are trying to navigate the ups and downs of life, love, and friendship.

The main character, Kate, played by Waller-Bridge, is a struggling actress who is dealing with the aftermath of a recent breakup. She is joined by her best friend, Anthony, who is a French chef with a passion for cooking and a tendency to get into trouble. The rest of the group includes Sam, a neurotic and insecure man; Fred, a laid-back and carefree guy; Melody, a sweet and naive girl; and Colin, a mysterious and enigmatic figure.

Throughout the series, the group faces various challenges and obstacles, from relationship drama to career struggles, all while trying to maintain their friendship and sanity. Crashing explores themes of love, loss, and the complexities of modern life, all with a healthy dose of humor and heart.

The musical choices in Crashing often felt jarring and out of place, disrupting the flow of the storytelling and creating awkward moments of tonal inconsistency. The lack of cohesion in the soundtrack detracted from the overall viewing experience, leaving me feeling disconnected from the characters' experiences and emotions.

I appreciate how the soundtrack of Crashing complements the emotional depth of the characters and adds an extra layer of depth to their stories.

4/10

The soundtrack of Crashing felt repetitive and uninspired, with the same generic indie pop tracks playing in the background of nearly every scene. It failed to enhance the emotional depth of the characters' struggles and often felt disconnected from the narrative, making it difficult to fully engage with the show's themes.
