Synopsis

Dick Johnson Is Dead is a documentary film that follows filmmaker Kirsten Johnson as she explores the concept of mortality through the lens of her relationship with her father, Dick Johnson.

As Dick Johnson ages and his health declines, Kirsten decides to stage various scenarios in which her father "dies" in order to confront her fears and capture their final moments together on film.

The film delves into themes of love, loss, and the inevitability of death, while also celebrating the joy and humor that can be found in the midst of grief.

Dick Johnson Is Dead is a poignant and heartfelt exploration of the complexities of the parent-child relationship and the ways in which we cope with the knowledge of our own mortality.
