Ed Gein was a notorious American murderer and body snatcher who inspired numerous horror films, including "Psycho" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
Gein was born in 1906 in Wisconsin and lived a reclusive life on a farm with his domineering mother. After her death in 1945, Gein began exhuming corpses from local graveyards and creating macabre trophies from their remains.
In 1957, Gein was arrested after the disappearance of a local woman, and police discovered a house of horrors filled with human body parts and furniture made from human skin.
Gein was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in a mental institution, where he died in 1984. His twisted crimes continue to fascinate and horrify people to this day.
