Synopsis

Electric Dreams

This upbeat love story features an architect named Miles who decides to modernize his life by buying a computer. Not knowing a thing about them, he purchases the biggest, most powerful system he can get hold of and wastes no time in having all sorts of accidents - dropping it, spilling champagne on it, cross-wiring it. All of this ends up causing something amazing to happen -- the computer gains self-awareness. Using its word processor, speakers, and microphone, the computer learns to communicate with Miles and they become friends as Miles teaches it about life.

Then a pretty cello player moves in next door and the shy Miles and super-intelligent but inexperienced computer conspire to get her to love Miles in the best tradition of Cyrano. After the computer and the woman start to share music through the heating ducts, the computer falls for the woman too. Soon, man and machine are battling for who has the right to date her.

In the end, the computer concludes that it doesn't have a chance with the woman and wishes the couple a happy life together. It downloads itself into the electrical system and departs for destinations unknown, but not before invading a local radio station's computers to request a musical tribute to the new couple.

The music in Electric Dreams skillfully mirrors the emotional journey of the characters, from the playful and curious interactions between Miles and the computer to the heartfelt moments of connection between the characters, creating a rich and immersive atmosphere.

I found the soundtrack of Electric Dreams to be quite repetitive and lacking in variety. The same melodies and musical motifs seemed to repeat throughout the film, which made it feel monotonous and uninspired.

The soundtrack effectively mirrors the evolving relationship between man and machine, with the music adapting to the changing dynamics of the characters throughout the story.

David Nelson
2/10

The instrumental arrangements in the soundtrack felt outdated and did not match the futuristic theme of the movie. I was expecting more innovative and electronic sounds to complement the storyline about a self-aware computer, but instead, the music sounded like a generic '80s pop soundtrack.

Richard Taylor
7/10

The blend of electronic and classical elements in the soundtrack of Electric Dreams adds a unique and dynamic layer to the storytelling, reflecting the fusion of technology and human emotion explored in the film.

John Parker

The emotional impact of the music in Electric Dreams fell flat for me. Despite the romantic and dramatic moments in the film, the soundtrack failed to evoke any strong feelings or enhance the storytelling. I was hoping for more powerful and moving compositions to elevate the movie experience, but the music felt forgettable and unremarkable.
