Synopsis

"Family Feud" was one of the most popular game shows on TV, but after nine years with Richard Dawson as host, ratings were starting to slip. In 1986, producers decided that the "Family Feud" needed a makeover, and they wanted a fresh face to breathe new life into this old favorite. "Family Feud" producer Howard Felsher remembered hearing great things about a talented young comic named Ray Combs. The late Mark Goodson chose Ray to host "The New Family Feud." It was a perfect match. Ray's down-home love for people was genuine. But pressures began to amount in 1994 as ratings on "Family Feud" began to slide following the death of Mark Goodson. Son, Jonathan Goodson and consultant Harris Kattleman decided to bring back original host Richard Dawson to try and boost ratings, but a drab set covering, low prize money and bad timeslots forced "Family Feud" back onto the shelf in 1995.

Emily King
8/10

The variety of music selections in the show, from celebratory tunes during winning moments to more somber melodies during intense showdowns, effectively set the tone and enhanced the emotional impact of each episode.

4/10

I found the new theme music in Family Feud to be extremely generic and uninspired. It lacked the energy and excitement that a game show theme should have, and it failed to capture the fun and competitive spirit of the show. It felt like a missed opportunity to create a memorable and engaging soundtrack that could enhance the viewing experience.

Anthony Lewis
5/10

The decision to bring back Richard Dawson as host did not improve the show's ratings, but the familiar theme music still brought a sense of nostalgia for longtime fans.

Emily Scott
8/10

The upbeat and catchy theme song of Family Feud always got me excited to watch the show and added a fun and energetic vibe to the overall viewing experience.

Susan Harris
6/10

The music cues during the gameplay added excitement and tension, enhancing the viewing experience for the audience.

Mary Thomas
5/10

The original Family Feud theme song was catchy and memorable, setting the tone for the show's fun and competitive atmosphere.

Donna Harris
5/10

Despite the challenges faced by the show in its later years, the music remained a consistent and enjoyable aspect of Family Feud that helped maintain its appeal to audiences.

Karen Jones
1/10

The background music used during the gameplay segments of Family Feud felt repetitive and monotonous. It didn't add any excitement or tension to the show, and instead, it became background noise that was easily forgettable. The lackluster soundtrack failed to elevate the gameplay and make the show more engaging for the audience.

Karen King
8/10

The use of music cues during the show, such as the suspenseful and intense music during the fast money round, added an extra layer of excitement and engagement for the audience.

James Jones
6/10

The soundtrack of Family Feud complemented the show's format well, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere for both the contestants and viewers.

Joshua Roberts

The transition to the new theme song when Ray Combs took over as host was refreshing and helped give the show a modern feel.
