Synopsis

Gangster Squad is set in 1949 Los Angeles, where gangster Mickey Cohen has taken control of all criminal activity in the city. He has corrupted local judges and police, making it difficult for anyone to stand up against him.

Sergeant John O'Mara, a WWII veteran, is determined to bring peace to Los Angeles for his family. Police Chief William Parker forms a special unit to take down Cohen, with O'Mara leading the team.

O'Mara recruits 4 cops to join him, including Jerry Wooters, a fellow veteran. Wooters initially declines but changes his mind after witnessing a murder committed by Cohen's men.

Together, the squad works to dismantle Cohen's criminal empire. As Cohen suspects a rival gang is targeting him, he soon realizes it's actually the police who are after him.
