Ghostbusters is a 1984 American supernatural comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. It stars Bill Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis as three eccentric parapsychologists in New York City who start a ghost-catching business.
The film follows the trio as they investigate a surge in paranormal activity in the city, leading them to discover a plot to bring about the end of the world by a powerful ancient Sumerian deity named Gozer. With the help of their fourth member, Winston Zeddemore, the Ghostbusters must save the city from destruction.
Ghostbusters was a critical and commercial success, spawning a franchise that includes sequels, animated series, comic books, and video games. The film's iconic theme song, performed by Ray Parker Jr., became a chart-topping hit and remains a pop culture staple to this day.
