Green Street Hooligans is a movie about Matt, who is unjustly expelled from Harvard after a stash of cocaine is found in his possession. He moves to London to live with his sister and her husband Steve.
Steve's younger brother Pete is introduced to Matt, and at first, Pete is reluctant to get to know him because he may be seen as an 'outsider'. However, after a drinking session with Pete and his friends, Pete's opinion of Matt changes.
On the way back from a football match, Matt is attacked by Birmingham City thugs, but Pete and his friends step in to save him. Matt then learns that Pete and his friends are football hooligans, part of the GSE (Green Street Elite) 'firm'.
Initially afraid of the violence, Matt becomes desensitized to it as he spends more time with his new friends. However, as events unfold, suspicion, shocking revelations, and unsettled scores lead to a devastating climax where London's fiercest football rivals, Millwall and West Ham United, are set to face off.
