Synopsis

Herstory

Jung-sook Moon is a will-driven businesswoman who owns a travel agency. One day, she was watching TV and scolded her daughter not adjusting to her school. Suddenly, her old housekeeper, Jung-gil Bae, who worked for her 16 years, gets upset and quits next day. Jung-sook is confused and visiting Jung-gil's house and saw Jung-sook and her son are having conflicts. Even though the son is violent but suffers from congenital syphilis, Jung-gil keeps protecting him with guilt, which only puzzles Jung-sook.

Since Jung-sook's business is not going well, her friends suggests to group a welfare support organization for "comfort women" who were forced to sexual slavery for Japanese imperial military during WWII, but wrongfully known as money-seekers. Those friends only say that to make her business (involved in illegal activities) reflects her good deeds to look like a good business woman.

While she is looking for those women, who were teenagers but now old broken ladies haunted with abuse and even detested by their families, she realizes that her old housekeeper is one of them who is hiding her past. The victims are socially recognized as shames and denied by Japanese and Korean governments, but they recollect their painful memories and refuse to stop fighting until they get through the small law court in Shimonoseki.

Jung-sook stands up as their representative, realizes Jung-gil and other ladies' pasts with her own mind (how horrible to hide and hard to reclaim their human rights, even from their own people and families), gets a Japanese lawyer, and goes through all the steps with them.
