Guiga, born in the city of Salvador, in the province, discovers sexuality and its limits in contact with her mother, Aurora. With her father, Guilherme, a fearsome, austere and exacerbated puritan, she will experience many conflicts. He grows up driven by Catholic guilt, scarred by the death of his mother even before he was a teenager. As a young man, the protagonist is angry with his father and, during the military dictatorship, he lives his most active phase.
