Synopsis

Keeping Mum is a comedy film that follows the story of Walter Goodfellow (Rowan Atkinson), the vicar for the small English country parish of Little Wallop. His marriage to Gloria (Kristin Scott Thomas) has gone stale, and he is disconnected from his family.

Walter is unaware that his seventeen-year-old daughter Holly (Tamsin Egerton) is in a series of relationships with unsuitable boyfriends, and his son Petey (Toby Parkes) is being bullied at school.

Desperate for affection, Gloria starts to fall for Lance (Patrick Swayze), an American golf pro who is giving her "private" lessons.

The family's problems begin to fade away when Grace Hawkins (Dame Maggie Smith), the new housekeeper, arrives. She takes care of matters in a darkly mysterious and older version of Mary Poppins (1964).
