Synopsis

Lorenzo's Oil is a 1992 drama film directed by George Miller. The film is based on the true story of Augusto and Michaela Odone, who search for a treatment for their son Lorenzo's rare genetic disorder, adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).

Augusto and Michaela Odone refuse to accept the doctors' prognosis that there is no cure for ALD and take matters into their own hands. They research and develop a special oil mixture that they believe can slow down the progression of the disease.

As they struggle to find support and funding for their treatment, they face skepticism and criticism from the medical community. However, they persist in their efforts to save their son.
