In Los Angeles, Hank is a lonely man in not having left his apartment in six months due to fear of threats, mostly imagined, from the outside world. In his solitude, he is delusional with many of those perceived threats having invaded his apartment. Regardless, he craves human connection, especially with someone of the opposite sex, that need which is only exacerbated by the pressure placed on him by his mother to get married like his younger brothers.
Meanwhile, Nancy has just arrived in town with her boyfriend Ray. Even before he leaves her destitute upon their arrival in town, Nancy believes she is a curse on anything she touches, which accounts for the sad state of her life. The question for Hank and Nancy as a collective is if they can get over their respective issues when they have their chance meeting to make a meaningful human connection, especially in perhaps not realizing how much each really needs the other.
