Synopsis

Marvel 14: Superheroes vs. Censorship is a documentary that tells the story of number 14 of the French Marvel comic, which was censored and banned before its publication. Marvel comics were censored at the time in France, being largely redesigned and trimmed for content. Both the left (US comics were supposedly symbols of US imperialism) and the right (because of the violent and immoral content) pressured the publishers, even with death threats, to stop the magazine. Issue #14 was never published, but a few copies may have survived and it has become an urban legend. The documentary also establishes the history of Marvel comics and expands on the censorship situation in late 1960s France. Available in 2 versions: 26mns and 52mns.
