Synopsis

Among a group of twenty-something male friends in Montréal, Matthias Ruiz and Maxime Leduc are arguably each other's best friend, they who have known each other since they were children.

That friendship is despite their lives having diverged in adulthood even more than when they were children.

Upper middle class Matt is climbing the corporate ladder, and is in a steady, committed relationship with Sarah.

Max works a service job as a bartender while he acts as the legal conservator for his ex-junkie mother, Manon, much against her wishes, as such the two have an emotionally charged relationship straddling that fine line between love and hate.

He is imminently moving to Australia on a two year work visa probably to find himself as he has no plans of yet beyond again working as a bartender.

At one of their last group gatherings as friends before Max's departure in one month's time, their friend Rivette, who is hosting the party at his family's lakeside cabin, informs them much to their chagrin that who they consider Rivette's annoying younger sister Érika will also be at the cabin, although Rivette assures them that she will be off doing her own thing with her own friends.

As Érika is working on a student film project, Matt and Max are both roped into being in the movie.

It isn't until they feel they are unable to back out that they discover the scene requires them to kiss each other.

While the resulting scene means nothing to anyone who watches the finished film, least of all Sarah, Matt and Max, largely individually, have to figure out how this new twist of the kiss factors into what is already their complicated friendship, all before Max heads off for those two years.
