Synopsis

Nelsonville, Ohio, 1956. With rock 'n' roll taking America's youth by storm, gawky high school student Jonathan Bellah remains the school's most unpopular kid. And obsessed with Marilyn McCauley, the hottest girl in class, Jonathan still has a long way to go before he makes a move on the woman of his dreams.

But Jonathan's life is about to change forever. As Gene Harbrough, a handsome greaser and leather-clad motorcycle rebel, moves in next door, a miracle happens: the effortlessly cool newcomer offers Jonathan his romantic expertise to win the girl's heart. And just like that, Jonathan takes a crash course in teenage coolness, guided by James Dean, the eternal symbol of youthful rebellion.

But first things first. Will Jonathan discover what he's been missing out on in life?

Furthermore, the songs selected for key romantic moments in the film felt forced and disconnected from the characters' emotions, diminishing the impact of pivotal scenes. The lack of emotional resonance in the musical choices made it difficult to fully invest in Jonathan's journey of self-discovery and romance with Marilyn McCauley.

The soundtrack's incorporation of iconic songs from the era, such as those by Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly, adds a layer of cultural relevance and historical context to the story.

Paul Williams

The soundtrack of Mischief felt outdated and uninspired, failing to capture the essence of the 1950s rock 'n' roll era in a meaningful way. The music choices seemed generic and cliché, lacking the authenticity needed to transport the audience to Nelsonville, Ohio in 1956.
