Mother's Boys is a thrilling drama that follows the story of Jude Madigan (Curtis), who abruptly leaves her husband, Robert (Gallagher), and their three sons without any explanation. Three years later, when Robert finally files for divorce, Jude returns and attempts to reclaim her former life. However, Robert refuses and insists on the divorce, which Jude cannot accept.
Jude resorts to unsuccessful attempts to seduce Robert and harasses his new girlfriend, Callie. She manipulates her eldest son, Kes, into believing that Callie is the obstacle to their reunited family. Kes then devises a plan with his brothers to scare off Callie, under the guise of a "game".
As the situation escalates, Jude's mother, Lydia (Redgrave), overhears the plan and confronts Kes. A struggle ensues, leading to Lydia accidentally falling down the stairs. In the hospital, Lydia warns Jude against her harmful intentions. In a fit of rage, Jude tries to suffocate her mother but is interrupted by a nurse, prompting her to flee.
Meanwhile, the boys handcuff Callie and put her on "trial" for allegedly destroying their family. When a dangerous situation arises, Callie manages to convince one of the boys to free her. As they try to escape, Jude sabotages Callie's car, leading to a perilous cliffside chase.
In a climactic moment, Jude intentionally lets go of Callie's hand, causing her to fall to her death. The film concludes with Robert embracing a shaken Kes, who has nightmares of Jude returning from the dead. Callie stands by Robert's side, offering comfort to them both.
