Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont tells the story of Mrs. Palfrey (Dame Joan Plowright), a recently widowed woman who moves into a London residential hotel.
She hopes her grandson, who lives in London, will visit her at the hotel.
One day, she slips on a walk and is helped by a young writer named Ludo (Rupert Friend).
She invites Ludo to dine at the Claremont and lets others believe he is her grandson.
A friendship develops between Mrs. Palfrey and Ludo, giving them both companionship and support.
However, questions arise about Mrs. Palfrey's actual family and how they will react to her new friendship with Ludo.
The movie explores the dynamics of family, friendship, memories, and support in a heartwarming and touching way.
