Synopsis

Office Space is a comedy film that takes place in the Initech office. The main character, Peter Gibbons, is unhappy with his job and despises his boss, Bill Lumbergh. Lumbergh has hired two efficiency consultants to downsize the company, which adds to Peter's stress.

Peter's best friends are software engineers Michael Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar, who also dislike working at Initech. Peter also has an annoying neighbor named Lawrence. He suspects his girlfriend Anne is cheating on him, so she convinces him to see a hypnotherapist named Dr. Swanson.

During the hypnotherapy session, Peter opens up about his miserable life and Dr. Swanson hypnotizes him, putting him in a state of euphoria. Unfortunately, Dr. Swanson dies right after giving Peter the hypnotic suggestion. Peter starts dating a waitress named Joanna and undergoes a positive transformation, leading to a promotion by the consultants.

When Peter learns that Michael and Samir are going to be laid off, they decide to plant a virus in the banking system to steal small amounts of money. However, a mistake in the software causes them to accidentally embezzle over $300 thousand. The trio frantically tries to fix the error, return the money, and avoid getting caught and sent to prison.
