Synopsis

Bangkok. Ten years ago Julian (Ryan Gosling) killed a man and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.

When Julian's brother murders an underage prostitute, the Police call on retired cop Chang (Vithaya Pansringarm) - the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughter's murderer, then "restores order" by chopping off the man's right hand.

Julian's mother Crystal (Dame Kristin Scott Thomas) - the head of a powerful criminal organization - arrives in Bangkok to collect her son's body. She dispatches Julian to find his killers and "raise Hell".

The soundtrack of Only God Forgives felt disconnected and jarring to me. The music choices did not seem to complement the intense and gritty storyline set in Bangkok, and at times it took me out of the immersive experience.

The lack of diversity in the musical styles used in the soundtrack made it feel one-dimensional and predictable. I was hoping for a more dynamic and eclectic mix of music to match the complex characters and themes of the film, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.

Each track feels like a character in itself, enhancing the tension and drama of the story, making the viewing experience even more engaging and memorable.

I found the use of repetitive and monotonous electronic beats in the soundtrack to be quite uninspiring. Instead of enhancing the tension and drama of the scenes, the music felt repetitive and failed to evoke any emotional response from me as a viewer.
