Synopsis

Play It to the Bone is a story about two aging fighters in LA who are friends. They receive a call from a Vegas promoter because his undercard fighters for a Mike Tyson bout that night are suddenly unavailable and he wants them to box each other.

They agree to the match as long as the winner gets a shot at the middleweight title. To get to Vegas, they enlist Grace, Cesar's current and Vinnie's ex-girlfriend, to drive them.

During the trip, flashbacks to their previous title shots, their competitive friendship, and Grace's motivational wiles are shown. Grace also has her own entrepreneurial dreams.

The fight itself is historic, lasting 10 rounds of savagery and courage. The questions arise: who will win, who will get the title shot, who gets Grace, and where will she find venture capital?

I found the soundtrack of Play It to the Bone to be lackluster and uninspiring. The music did not effectively capture the intensity and emotional depth of the characters' journey throughout the film.

Furthermore, I felt that the soundtrack failed to enhance the climactic fight scenes in a meaningful way. The music did not succeed in building tension or excitement during these pivotal moments, which detracted from the overall impact of the film.

Amanda Martinez

On the other hand, some of the musical choices in the film felt a bit cliché and predictable. While the soundtrack effectively set the tone for the boxing matches, it lacked depth and originality in other scenes. More variety in the music selection could have added layers to the characters and their relationships, enhancing the overall emotional impact of the film.
