Remake tells two tragic stories in one, with an interval of fifty years in between (1943-1993). The film brings the experience of World War II and the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War.
Before the onset of war in Bosnia, young writer Tarik sent a screenplay to a competition in France, telling the story of his father Ahmed who experienced the outbreak of World War II in Sarajevo. Later, Tarik is captured by the Serbian army and subjected to cruel conditions in a labor camp.
With the help of the UN, Tarik manages to escape the besieged city and goes to Paris because a famous French film producer is interested in his script. There, he meets one of his tormentors, highlighting the great tragedy that has struck Bosnia.
Remake is not just a war film, it is also a coming-of-age drama. The film includes scenes where Ahmed and Tarik go out with their friends, have fun, and fall in love.
