Synopsis

Sam, a divorced ad exec, loses his son in a university shooting. At the wake at his ex wife's house, he meets his son's SO, Kate.

Two years later, after many bottles of booze, he lives on his yacht and works as a house painter. He meets up with his two workmates after work at a bar. He keeps his past a secret.

When his ex finally tracks him down to get his signature to sell their house, she leaves him their son's music things including recordings of his own songs. Sam brings his guitar to the open mic night at the bar and sings his son's song.

He gets his first fan, Quentin, who sees potential. Quentin manages to convince Sam to start a band/quartet (Rudderless) playing "Sam's" songs.

The vocals in the soundtrack of Rudderless were often off-key and lacked the necessary depth and emotion to convey the weight of the storyline. This detracted from the overall impact of the music and made it challenging to fully immerse myself in the film's narrative.

The soundtrack of Rudderless is emotionally powerful, capturing the raw grief and healing journey of the main character, Sam, beautifully. The songs convey a sense of loss, longing, and hope, making them resonate deeply with the audience.

Linda Harris

The soundtrack of Rudderless felt uninspired and lackluster to me. The songs failed to evoke any emotional response or connection with the characters' journey, making it difficult to engage with the story on a deeper level.

I found the musical arrangements in Rudderless to be repetitive and unoriginal. The melodies seemed to blend together, creating a monotonous listening experience that failed to captivate my attention or leave a lasting impression.

The performances in the film, particularly the live music scenes, are incredibly moving and authentic. The way the actors convey the pain and healing through music is truly heartfelt and adds a layer of authenticity to the overall storytelling.
