Sagara Sangamam is a story about Balakrishna (Kamal), an economically poor multi-talented dancer proficient in Bharata Natyam, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, and more. His ultimate dream is to perform at an All-India level competition.
Madhavi (Jayaprada), a wealthy girl, recognizes Balakrishna's talent and helps him secure an opportunity to compete in the all-India competition. However, tragedy strikes as his aging mother passes away just as he is about to realize his dream.
As Balakrishna grows closer to Madhavi, he discovers that she is already married and her husband has left her. Despite his love for her, he sacrifices his feelings when her husband returns and wants to reconcile.
Years later, Balakrishna descends into alcoholism while Madhavi loses her husband. Learning that Balakrishna is terminally ill, Madhavi cares for him and asks him to teach dance to her daughter.
The movie concludes with Madhavi's daughter becoming a talented dancer, and Balakrishna's death serves as a poignant reminder that "There is no end to art.".
