Synopsis

Indochina, 1959. A Wild West town controlled by the criminal class: Vietnamese warlords and European war criminals. Den-Dhin-Chan Labor Camp is run by four such dangerous men. The worst prison in the land, it is here that a European, former-champion boxer Martin Tilman (Scott Adkins) has made a name for himself fighting tournaments, on which wealthy criminals gamble in high stakes events.

When Tilman is due for release, he just wants to return home, but the corrupt forces running the jail will do everything in their power to keep him locked down. When all that Tilman holds dear is taken away in a vicious act of violence, he is forced to confront the five men responsible and take his revenge.

The Savage Dog soundtrack perfectly captures the gritty and intense atmosphere of 1950s Indochina, setting the tone for the film's wild west setting controlled by dangerous criminals.

Richard Lewis
1/10

The choice of music in Savage Dog often felt disconnected from the emotional depth of the characters and the intensity of the storyline. Instead of enhancing key moments with powerful and resonant melodies, the soundtrack fell short and failed to evoke the necessary emotional impact, leaving the audience feeling disconnected from the narrative.

Matthew Nelson
7/10

The soundtrack features a mix of traditional Vietnamese music and Western-influenced compositions, creating a unique blend that immerses viewers in the exotic and dangerous world of the film.

Matthew Parker
7/10

The use of percussion and string instruments in the soundtrack adds depth and authenticity to the fight scenes, making each encounter between characters feel raw and visceral.

Andrew Baker

The soundtrack of Savage Dog failed to capture the essence of the Indochina setting in 1959. Instead of incorporating traditional Vietnamese or European elements, the music felt generic and out of place, detracting from the overall immersion of the film.
