Synopsis

Serena is a novel written by Ron Rash that tells the story of a ruthless timber baron named George Pemberton and his ambitious wife, Serena. The couple moves to the mountains of North Carolina in the 1920s to start a timber empire. Serena proves to be a strong and cunning woman who will stop at nothing to achieve her goals, even if it means committing murder. As the couple's empire grows, so does the tension between them and the workers in the camp. The novel explores themes of power, greed, and the destructive nature of ambition.
