Synopsis

Ryan O'Connell is the Star of this Netflix series where he is also Executive Producer. His character is also named Ryan (Ryan Kayes). Ryan lives with his overprotective mother Karen Kayes (played by Jessica Hecht). Karen is overprotective because Ryan has cerebral palsy. But she can't protect him all the time - like when he jaywalks and is hit by a car.

Three months after the accident Karen helps Ryan get ready for his interview to be an intern at an online site - 'eggwoke'. Karen's mollycoddling gets to Ryan who attempts to assert himself declaring it is time to challenge himself. He gets the job at 'eggwoke'. When he tells his co-workers he was hit by a car, they assume his arm and leg problems are the result of the traffic accident. Ryan decides to let this misunderstanding continue rather than tell them the truth. He re-brands himself: instead of being handicapped he just fractured an elbow in an accident.

Ryan is befriended by fellow writer Kim (Punam Patel) who also blogs for eggwoke. But Kim has issues with her body and Karen is afraid of being alone. Ryan has to come to grips with these problems too.

The episodes follow Ryan as he overcomes injustices at a coffee/scone store, getting ignored at his housewarming, and being fixed-up with a date. He finally challenges himself, 'cuts the cord' and moves out of his mother's house, reveals to others at eggwoke that he suffers from CP. In the end, Ryan learns to be true to himself and goes off to live his life on his own terms.
