Sissi Fischbacher, a 30-year-old woman, will soon be a blind rehabilitation teacher: her last test will be to treat a 60-year-old Swedish businessman, Theo Olsson, who was blinded after an accident. Theo has been an overbearing manager of a large steel mill and has now grown bitter and lonely. The first contacts between Theo and Sissi are quite tense. He argues that he can handle his situation without help. Sissi will not give up her duty. They are both very stubborn people, but little by little Theo learns to walk safely around his house, sometimes he gets desperate and Sissi has to remember him to have more patience.
