Synopsis

Seed is a science fiction novel written by Octavia E. Butler. The story follows a group of humans who have been genetically modified to survive on a hostile alien planet. The protagonist, Lilith Iyapo, is awakened from cryogenic sleep by an alien race known as the Oankali. The Oankali offer to help humanity survive on Earth, but at a cost - they want to interbreed with humans to create a new hybrid species.

As Lilith struggles to come to terms with this new reality, she must navigate the complex relationships between humans and Oankali. The novel explores themes of identity, power, and the consequences of genetic engineering. Seed is a thought-provoking and gripping tale that challenges readers to question what it means to be human.
