"Taxi to the Dark Side" is a film that uses the torture and death of an innocent Afghan taxi driver in 2002 as a starting point to examine the changes in U.S. policy towards suspects in the war on terror after 9/11.
The documentary features interviews with soldiers, their attorneys, a released detainee, U.S. Attorney John Yoo, as well as news footage and photos that reveal the abuse that took place at Bagram Air Base, Abu Ghraib, and Guantanamo Bay.
Orders from top officials such as Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Gonzalez encouraged the use of any means necessary to extract information from detainees. The CIA and poorly trained soldiers resorted to tactics such as sleep deprivation, sexual assault, stress positions, waterboarding, and the use of dogs to terrorize detainees.
Many of the speakers in the film express their concerns about the loss of American ideals in the pursuit of security.
