Synopsis

Thappad is a story about Amrita and Vikram Sabharwal, a happily married couple. Vikram works in a reputable company while Amrita is a homemaker whose life revolves around him.

When Vikram gets a promotion and they relocate to London, they throw a celebration party. However, things take a turn when Vikram finds out he won't be heading the London office and will have to work under his junior employee.

During the party, Vikram gets into a fight with his colleague and ends up slapping Amrita while she tries to stop him. This incident deeply hurts Amrita and changes her life forever.

Amrita decides to leave Vikram and move in with her parents. She also takes legal action and brings the matter to court, seeking justice for the physical and emotional abuse she endured.
